A Soldier's Life

A Soldier's Life

While She Ponders,
The Phone Rings :

"Tring Tring, Tring Tring"

There goes my phone with a ring.

Connecting places, weaving hearts,

I hear my mother's voice from far.

"Beta, how was your day today..

Did you take your meal?"

Was what she whispered, with so

 much feel.

Heart beats thumbed, in sundry sighs,

Answering in clum, I replied:

"Yes, Ma, just back from patrolling,

An hour of break, then the usual swirl.

Few hours of sleep and monochrome meal,

I miss your recipes, your tasty treats.

Waking up when the dawn broke,

Hustling, I embellished my uniform, unfolding the sleeves.

Ma, you know it gave me love of thousands martyred,

adorning badges, I stood with faith.

The uniform of trust, sacrifices of plenty,

I promised to save land of my Country's dainty."

Strong Hands,
Holding
Innocence

"I believe you son, like every mother does,

Be the pride of your countrymen

striving for their love!"

She exclaimed with jubilant pride.

I obey her wishes, I love her prayers,

But this heart too could feel her fears.

She waits for my call each day,

Sitting by the clock when the hands make "two".

" I will Ma", in your care, loving my country is too my share.

I stand whole day with huge deadly machines in hands,

Looking in care, these eyes don't mutter.

I miss your laugh, I miss Baba's hand,

Which would daily come forth for newspaper's glare.

"Ma do you know what happened today? "

A grenade pierced my comrade's stare,

Blood gushed out like river's flow,

We couldn't save him,

Our family lost its glow.

I am safe Ma, you don't fear,

Your son has promised his life sans tear.

My legs were aching today, standing for long,

I didn't care Ma, for it is my duty where I belong.

The day receded with birds flying ,

I wished for wings, that could take me back to home.

But, Ma I know my duty, in everyone's care,

I will stay strong, listening your voice from here.

Days will pass and lives be lost,

But our India's flag will always be hoisted high.

Autumns came, spring knocks the door,

We will keep you safe, be rest assured.

"Ma I will call you back awhile,

Don't you worry, always keep a smile. "

Oceans flutter, the air mutters,

The ring goes off and the routine stutters.

Nature and Love    |•YOUR SPRING AND MY AUTUMNS•| You came in me, like blossoms of Spring, Bloom and colours around, with joys sรผrรผlen. Soothing breeze of love filled air, A new felt aura, touched my skin. My eyes, like Iris, brimmed in hope, My leaves of love, giggled when touched with soothing rays of moon. Sundry promises, distances nigh, Broke into pieces, when my autumns arrived. My gardens were bare, leaves of love, were left to dry. I smell now, approaching chrysanthemum sprawls, My soothing skin now, pricks and boils. ~You gave me autumns, eclipsing my days, Yet I love you still, as from dried blossoms, sprouted a seed of hope, With each reminiscence of yours, I found myself, relishing the spring In you. ~©๐“๐“ท๐“พ๐“ผ๐“ฑ ✿ ('Anisha Das)

ISSHOKENMEI OF LIFE

 |•ISSHOKENMEI OF LIFE•| I often wonder, why do I leave things mid way. Not giving much passion or a second thought of getting back. Those things which I leave never meet their end, 'a full stop' much needed. It may be same as our lives, where our breath stops mid way: leaving so much more to relinquish but no commas to continue. We live in the ink of writers, their words but when the nip breaks, words fail to imprint in the paper of life. Writers hold a certain privilege where their beloved finds permanence in the forever etched words. Such tales airs the creativity in us, pushing us to kindle the fire within us. Leaving things have left me no adjectives, I wish for more commas now, like how a chilly zephyr blows the frail flowers from branches, falling down I wish fragrance: an essence of existence in this line of life, where leaving things push me to accomplish more, isshokenmei beckons the sacred light. Falling down the stairs of hope, we are left pained. Pained, dejected
